What to look for when chosing a Woodburner

Radiant or convection?
Woodburners release their heat through a combination of heat radiation, which heats objects and convection which heats air. The amount of each will vary from model to model.  Woodburners that produce mostly radiant heat will make the room they are in feel warmer than the air actually is. This makes them suitable for large rooms with high ceilings and/or poor insulation and draft issues.  Convection woodburners will heat the air around them more which will then rise to the ceiling. This means you will get less heat in the bottom part of your room unless you use a ceiling fan to mix up the hotter higher and cooler lower layers of air.  Convection woodburners make it easier to move some of the warm air to other parts of your home.
 

What size?
We can work out what size of woodburner you need to match the size of the rooms you wish to heat. Most woodburners generate more heat than is needed for one room and the excess heat can be transfered throughout other parts of the home with a heat transfer kit.


Council Consent
All woodburners require a building consent from your local Council and we can arrange all the necessary paperwork needed to obtain the consent if needed.
